MEET ERICA!
Hey, I'm Erica! I am seventeen, and I've been a military kid all
my life. My dad has been serving his country for 24 years, and is my superhero
in real life. He has given me more than a roof over my head, and shoes for my
feet. He's shown me how to have patriotism, courage, and respect for others. I love my country more then
anything else In this world. I respect the position of all of its leaders.
Because of my father's sacrifice for Country I want to sacrifice for mine, and
plan on following his footsteps in the Army National Guard. Along with
patriotism, my father has also taught me how to have courage. When he leaves for
a week or a year it is rough on the family. Him being gone puts a strain on my
mom, but we all know when he leaves that it is the way we sacrifice for our
country. We have to have courage that he will be home safely. Lastly, he has
taught me how to have respect for others. At a young age I was instructed to
call my authorities "ma'am and "sir". I was shown how to open doors for the
elderly, and offer my seat to others. My father told his children to be a good
leader you must earn respect, but you must first respect others. My dad has been
a great influence in my life. Because of him, I have become who I am today. Thank
you dad for serving your country to keep me safe, and thank you for loving me
enough to risk your life for me.
